Egyptian Cultural Office Germany

-         In the light of the state concern of honoring and encouraging the tops of the secondary certificate, fifty-three students began a visit to Germany from 17/8 to 26/8/2007. The Egyptian Cultural Counselor in Berlin Dr. Galalieddin Hamzah al-Gemei'i made the arrangements of the receiving the students and the accompanying members from Al-Gomhuria newspaper. In this context, a dinner party was prepared for the students. The visit agenda also included a meeting with Ms. Annette Schavan, the German minister of education and scientific research in the building of the ministry in Berlin. During the meeting, the minister answered all the questions raised by the students in respect of the study and scientific research in Germany.

                      

 

-         In the presence of the mayor of Bonn and several of scientific, cultural, and journalistic figures of Germany, a 2-months exhibition under the title of "The Living for Thousands of Years - Modern Art of Egypt" opened doors. The exhibition held in Bonn museum was organized in cooperation between the Bonn museum, the Egyptian ministry of culture, and the Cultural Office of the Egyptian embassy in Berlin. The exhibition activities are expected to end in 29/10/2007.

             

 

-         The Egyptian Cultural Office in Berlin announced that the doctorate dissertation prepared by eng. Mohamed Magdy Abdel-Azeez Nur, who had a scholarship from DAAD corporation of the German University of Weimer in 3/6/2002, has won the top position on the Germany state in the field of information technology engineering through the Auf It gebaut competition of 2007. Scientific dissertations from all German universities in the field of engineering and its relationship with the technological information shared in this competition. The doctorate of Mr. Nur has a special significance, for it was able to draw connection between the informational forms of building and the characteristic of the building materials in pursuit of achieving flexibility in the design, modeling, and simulation processes.

-         The international Space University granted a scholarship to Ms. Nabila Ibrahim Abdel-Hamid, the applications practitioner in the National Authority for Remote Sensing and has a scholarship from DAAD German Corporation for the scientific exchange. The site of www.nss.org mentioned that the student is a leading and junior researcher that will serve as ambassadress for the Middle East in the space sciences.

-         "The scholars of the federal center for the agricultural researches seeking for natural ways to fight nematode" was the title of an essay displayed on the internet stating that a research team from the German University of Braunschweig including Hazem Mohamed 'Eliwa, the assistant researcher of the Egyptian faculty of agriculture in Benha University and the member of the interior mission in Germany, succeeded to create unsuitable environment for the growth and multiplication of the parasite nematode. This success achieved in the study carried out in the institute of soil sciences and plants alimentation. In the light of the new findings, soil abilities to fight the pests may be enhanced. Various microbial and chemical mechanisms with botanical extracts were put to test and resulted in impressive success in decreasing the rate and sexual energy of nematode to about 55% in comparison to the areas lacking this treatment. This great success indicated in the newspapers and scientific magazines caused great echoes in the relevant scientific circles. According to this news of this scientific progress recorded in the doctorate dissertation of Dr. Hazem Mohamed 'Eliwa, he is an honorable example of the Egyptian researchers in Germany.

-         In response to the invitation of the institute of space research and earth sciences and Albert Einstein area of sciences in Potsdam, Dr. Galaleddin Hamzah al-Gemei'i, the Egyptian Cultural Counselor and the head of the Egyptian mission office in Berlin, visited the institute to watch the latest current researches in the fields of space sounding, earth sciences researches, and earthquake studies, and their relationship with the earth magnetisms and cosmic system. Several meetings were held with the heads of research centers of this area to form a future vision for a scientific cooperation in the near future.

-         Dr. Galaleddin Hamzah al-Gemei'i, the Egyptian Cultural Counselor and the head of the Egyptian mission office in Berlin, has coordinated and attended the formal visit meetings of Ms. AnnetteSchavan, the German minister of education and scientific research, to Cairo from 6-8/6/2006. The visit of the minister resulted in holding a scientific cooperation agreement with the German side deciding on making the year 2007 a year for science and technology between Egypt and Germany. During the visit of the German minister of education, the substance science laboratory was opened in the German University in Cairo and a workshop was held in the Cairo University on the building of knowledge community. She also visited the ministry of education and the national center for researches including several meetings with the Egyptian minister of education and scientific research.

-         On 1/6/2006, Dr. Galaleddin Hamzah al-Gemei'i, the Egyptian Cultural Counselor and the head of the Egyptian mission office in Berlin, met the Egyptian students in the University of Munich and the other German universities in the neighboring cities. The meeting discussed the problems that face the students and their status. Egyptian students of Munich, Tübingen, Regensburg, Erlangen, Bayreuth, Augsburg, and Bamburg attended the meeting.

-         In response to the invitation of the German ministry of scientific research, Dr. Galaleddin Hamzah al-Gemei'i the Egyptian Cultural Counselor and the head of the Egyptian educational mission office in Berlin, joined the scientific journey in the company of the minister of scientific research in the province of Schleswig Holstein and head of Leibnts scientific society, in a visit to the special research centers in the province of Kiel north of Germany on 18-19 May. These centers studied the fields of nanotechnology, genetic engineering, ocean researches, economic studies, and the methods of sciences teaching. During the visit, the Cultural Counselor witnessed the latest results of researches and technology in these serious scientific fields. Moreover, several meetings were held with the heads of these research centers to review the future horizons of these fields and their possible applications.

-         According to an agreement between the Egyptian side represented by Dr. Wafaa Sadiq the General manager of the Egyptian museum and the German side represented by Dr. Klaus-Dieter Lehmann, the president of the Royal cultural institution of Belarus, an exhibition about the famous German Egyptologist Carl Richard Lepsius will be held in the Egyptian museum from 31/10/2006 to 3/2/2007. The agreement was signed in the presence of:

1.     Dr. Fimther Schouele, the general manager of the state museums in Berlin.

2.     Mr. Mohamed Urabi, the Egyptian ambassador in the Germany.

3.     Dr. Galaleddin Hamzah al-Gemei'i the Egyptian Cultural Counselor in Berlin.

4.     Dr. Dalia Abul-Fotouh Salama, the Egyptian attaché in the Cultural Office.

5.     Some presidents of Berlin museums.

6.     Some journalists from Die Welt.

-         In the presence of Mr. Mohamed Urabi, the Egyptian ambassador in Germany, and several professors of the German universities, members of the Egyptian diplomatic mission, and Egyptian students in Berlin, the Egyptian Cultural Office in Berlin held a festival in celebration of the outstanding Egyptian figures that enhanced the Egyptian-German relationships. Dr. Galaleddin Hamzah al-Gemei'i, the Egyptian Cultural Counselor and the head of the Egyptian educational mission office in Berlin, delivered the opening speech concentrating on highlighting the duties of the office and its role in strengthening the Egyptian-German relationships in the scientific and cultural fields. Mr. Mohamed Urabi, the Egyptian ambassador in the Germany, also gave an address welcoming the attendees.

-         During this festival, some persons were honored like the Egyptian engineer Hani Azer who has been living in Germany since a long time and supervised the implementation of building the central train station in Berlin, an achievement honored by the German Counselor Angela Merkel. Likewise, Dr. Wael Sidqi of Helwan University was also honored. He is in Germany to carry researches on music and his two daughters won the second position in Berlin international tae-kwan-do championship. One another side, the German woman Ms. Hanaa and her daughter Ameera who left Dahab before the occurrence of the grievous terrorist attack were also honored.

-         Ms. Hanan al-Shamani who studies doctorate in music in the University of Berlin was introduced to the festival and played some Egyptian musical pieces and then Dr. Wael Sidqi, a teacher of the faculty of musical education in Helwan University, played some other musical pieces.

           

           

          

           

-         The Egyptian Cultural Office in Berlin have honored the young Egyptians in the third class of Fulbergs School after their respectable representation of Egypt in the football world cup organized among the students of the primary schools in Germany under the patronage of WESTFAL ENPOST German newspaper. The local journals published the news of this sport event stating that though the failure of those young Egyptians to reach to the final rounds of the competition that will be on 17 June, their audience of parents and friends won the best audience prize in the competition.
